Reverend Vernon Carle Miller

Reverend Vernon Carle Miller was born in Farmville, Virginia on October 5, 1964. He is the first of three children born to Roosevelt (stepfather) and Susan L. Cooks of Yonkers, NY. He graduated from Prince Edward County High School in 1983. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at the High Bridge Baptist Church as a teenager.

In September 1984, he entered Virginia Union University and graduated with a B.S degree in Sociology in 1988. He presently attended Eastern School of Ministry of the Palmer Theological Seminar where he is pursuing a degree in Pastoral Studies. While at Virginia Union University he met the lovely Priscilla Freeman and they were married in November 1988. From their union, four beautiful children were born: Tamara, Marcus, Jackson and Brandon.

Rev. Miller joined the New Light Baptist Church in 1990. While at New Light he served on many ministries until he heard the clear call of God on his heart to preach the Gospel.

He was licensed by the New Light Baptist Church in 2000 and preached his initial sermon on July 2, 2002. Rev. Miller was ordained on November 10, 2004 and was appointed as Assistant Pastor in 2006, all under the direction of Rev. Dr. William C. Hall, his spiritual father and mentor, who previously pastored New Light for 40 years .

Rev. Miller was installed as the Pastor of New Light Baptist Church on Sunday, November 9th, 2008 at 4:00PM by his beloved uncle, Rev. James J. Miller of Peaks Baptist Church located in Prospect, Va.

So give God your very best, In Your Service to Him, In Your Giving to Him and In Your Praise and Worship of Him and you will be blessed. For David tells us in Psalm 37:25, “I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging for bread”.
